CEREMONIAL CACAO - An healing shamanistic journey
On a physical and emotional level, cacao nourishes your system. As the mother of all superfood cacao is among the most pharmacologically complex plant substances known to man. There are still quite some mysteries surrounding cacao. However, research increasingly shows that it has a multitude of benefits.
One of the most well known benefits is that cacao or chocolate increases your happiness. Cacao causes a rush of serotonin, dopamine and endorphins. These hormones are commonly known as your “happy hormones”. They are released by your brain when you drink cacao and can make you feel joy, love and connected to your inner self.
Some other health benefits and neurocognitive effects are:
- Increases blood flow (up to 30%), which leads to more positive energyRelaxes your blood pressure and muscular systems
- Nourishes your system through absorption of nutrients
- Cleanses the liver or releases emotions
- Replenishes minerals vital to your body
- Heightens creativityIncreases focus
Cacao has been known to open our hearts:
Cacao has been used as a sacred drink for thousands of years to connect with the divine. This natural plant medicine has been used within the Mayan culture for medicinal, spiritual and ceremonial purposes. In Mayan tradition, the word cacao is literally translated as “heart blood“, emphasising the importance it possesses in their culture.
In ceremony you connect with your heart through the cacao. This is supported by meditative and shamanistic practices led by Roos. People often experience a combination of going inward and connecting with others around you. In our ceremonies we work with raw cacao from Lovechock. For us it is important to use cacao of the highest quality. In that way, you will get the most out of the benefits mentioned above.
